Samuel Zeng

曾德睿

Co-Founder & Co-Chair

Samuel is an alumnus of the University of Chicago, where he graduated summa cum laude with a degree in Economics. He is currently an Investment Banking Analyst at Bank of America. In the past, Samuel served as a volunteer ESL instructor for Fenghua Chinese School, teaching a weekly English class for retired Chinese immigrants. He was also selected to be part of Fenghua Chinese School’s Youth Leadership Development Program, travelling to the Chengdu Sanyuan Foreign Language School in Sichuan to teach Chinese middle schoolers lessons on English language and American culture. In his free time, Samuel enjoys playing poker and tennis, cooking, watching mafia films, studying economic history, and also played for the University of Chicago’s rugby team.

Jessica Jue

周子安

Co-Founder & Co-Chair

Jessica is an alumna of Carnegie Mellon University, where she graduated Phi Beta Kappa with a B.S. in Biological Sciences and an additional major in Chinese Studies. She was awarded the U.S. Department of State’s Critical Language Scholarship in 2019 and was a 2019-2020 Fulbright English Teaching Assistant in Kinmen County, Taiwan. Jessica is passionate about immigrant/refugee health and language access in healthcare. She is currently a medical student at the University of Washington School of Medicine.

Dr. Yueming Yu

Dr. Yueming Yu is now a Professor Emeritus of Chinese Studies at Carnegie Mellon University after working in the field of foreign language education for more than half a century both in China and the US. Before her retirement, Dr. Yu was Teaching Professor and Director of the Chinese Studies Program of the Department of Modern Languages of Carnegie Mellon University (CMU). She founded CMU’s Chinese Studies Program in 1992 and had since served as its director for 28 years until she retired in June 2020.

In addition to teaching, research and program coordination, Dr. Yu has served as the Editor-in-chief of the online journal “Studies in Chinese Learning and Teaching (SCLT)” and the Vice President of the Chinese Language Teachers Association of Western PA. Dr. Yu received her BA in English at the Shanghai International Studies University in China, her MA in Applied Linguistics at Canberra University in Australia, and PhD in Education at the University of Pittsburgh.

Dr. Randall Nadeau

Advisor

Dr. Randall Nadeau is the Executive Director of the Foundation for Scholarly Exchange (Fulbright Taiwan), effective August 1, 2019. Professor Nadeau has enjoyed an academic career as a Distinguished Professor of Religion at Trinity University spanning twenty five years. He is the author of several books and articles on Asian religions, including research on religion in late imperial China, religious life in modern Taiwan, definitions of “religion” and religious concepts in East Asian traditions, and religion and identity. He has taught courses on Happiness Studies, Cultural Perspectives on Asian Religions, Buddhist Ethics, Taoism and Personal Identity, Being Young in Asia, Japanese Literature of the Spirit World, and Approaches to the Study of Religion, as well as Personal Identity in Historical Perspective (a course on the history and society of Taiwan).

 

Dr. Nadeau was a Fulbright scholar hosted by the International College at Tunghai University (Taiwan, 2014-2015) and a faculty development consultant at Rikkyo University (Japan, 2018-2019). He has participated in faculty-led study abroad programs in Taiwan, Japan, Hong Kong, and China. He is devoted to international education, inter-cultural exchange, and multi- disciplinary research.

Li Fang

​方莉

Advisor

Ms. Li Fang is now an Adjunct Professor of Chinese Language and Culture at Webster University and the founder of Canaan International LLC, an agency which provides college consulting services. She has worked with many school districts promoting Chinese language learning in grade schools, hosted Chinese language camps and competitions for high school and college students, and taken students to China on short-term study abroad programs. Her students won the first prize of the international “Chinese Bridge” competition two times in Kunming, China. She is passionate about US-China cultural exchange.

Before coming to the US to study for her master’s degree, Ms. Li Fang taught English at Tsinghua University and worked at Chinese Central Television (CCTV) as an editor. She received her BA in English and Teaching Chinese as a Second Language at Beijing Language and Culture University in China, her MBA in Marketing at Southern Illinois University.

Pauline (Bauchen) Chen

陈保辰

Advisor

Pauline, originally from Taipei, is an elementary school English Teacher and fourth grade advisor in Taiwan. She is an alumna of National Quemoy University, where she graduated with a B.A. degree from the Department of Applied English. In the summer of 2019, she accompanied elementary students on a government-sponsored study abroad tour in Brisbane, Australia. Pauline is passionate about language instruction and international education.

Wing K. Fung

​冯永球

Advisor

Wing K. Fung was the Principal of Castelar Street School in the Los Angeles Unified School District. Throughout his career, he has been working in schools with Korean, Spanish and Mandarin Dual Language Programs. Over the past 27 years he has served as a special education classroom teacher, school coordinator, district literacy advisor, assistant principal, specialist in the state and federal compliance department, and specialist in human resources. He has taught administrative courses at National University. Wing holds a Multi-Subject and Learning Handicapped Credentials as well as an administrative credential.  He earned a BA from the University of Southern California, MA and Multi-Subject credential from Pepperdine University, LH credential from LMU and administrative credential from CSUDH.

William Yuen Yee

余智颖

Co-Founder and Advisor

William is currently pursuing a master's degree in International Governance and Diplomacy as the 2022 laureate of the Michel David-Weill Scholarship at Sciences Po before attending Harvard Law School. He graduated summa cum laude and Phi Beta Kappa from Columbia University with a bachelor's degree in Political Science and East Asian Studies. William co-founded Window to the World in spring of 2020. He was previously awarded the U.S. Department of State’s Critical Language Scholarship (CLS) and National Security Language Initiative for Youth Scholarship (NSLI-Y) to study Mandarin in Changchun and Taipei, respectively. In his free time, William enjoys writing screenplays, listening to podcasts, and playing squash.
